PURPOSE:To enable a specified size photographic print to be automatically obtained in a photographic printer according to a video input signal of a different kind by a method wherein a number of one line content pixels of an image signal to be outputted according to one line content of photographing printing elements is detected based on a number of horizontal scan frequencies or a number of scan lines, and the number of pixels is conformed to a number of photographic elements based on a comparison result of the number of pixels with the number of photographic elements. CONSTITUTION:A means 18 which measures a number of horizontal scan frequencies and a number of scan lines of an inputted image signal, a photographic printing means 20 composed by arranging a plurality of photographic elements for photographically printing an image signal on one line, means 18, 24 which detect a number of one line content pixels of the image signal to be outputted according to one line content of the photographic elements 1 based on the number of horizontal scan frequencies or the number of scan lines, means 18, 24 which compare the number of pixels with the number of the photographic elements, and processing means 18, 19, 20, 24 which process the number of pixels so as to conform to the number of photographic elements based on compared results of the comparison means 18, 24 are established. Therefore, the number of scan lines and the number of horizontal scan frequencies of a video input signal are measured according to a plurality of different video input signals to be inputted to a printer, and a photographic print size is so regulated as to be almost constant automatically based on those measured values. |
