One-way street warning electronic system for vehicle - detecting vehicle direction with sensors along road and operating warning lights and road blocks

The system uses passive or active sensors in the road (or track) (1). These sensors detect vehicles travelling in a given direction and activate warning signals at the roadside. In this way vehicles travelling the wrong way along a one-way street are warned of this fact. The sensors may be inductive loops (3,4) on or in the road arranged to respond to one direction only. Alternatively the sensors may employ infra-red, radar or laser radiation or ultrasound. The warning signals from the sensors may also operate road blocks (= barriers that swing down to block the road) to prevent the vehicle continuing the wrong way. USE/ADVANTAGE - Drivers going wrong way are warned and blocked.
