PURPOSE: To simplify the operation and to improve the reliability by forming a dichronic coupler of the single mode for a signal light and optical pumping radiation by two length active core optical fibers arranged in parallel. CONSTITUTION: This communication line consists of a dichronic coupler 6, to which an optical pumping irradiation source 7 is optically coupled, and one active core optical fiber 8 arranged below this dichroic coupler 6. The dichronic coupler 6 consists of two optical fiber parts 9 and 10 which are parallel with each other and have clads mutually joined by fusion and are drawn just after joining, and these optical fiber lines 9 and 10 are in the single mode for both of signal and optical pumping radiation together. Therefore, both light beams emitted from the dichroic coupler 6 are in the overlapping single mode. Thus, interposed optical fibers are realized by butt welding, and the easy amplifier having a high reliability is obtained. |
