Correlating non-palpate mammographic changes in removed tissue - while anchored in container with gridded cover or base
摘要
A section of breast-tissue removed for sectional diagnosis of changes discovered by radiography but not palpable and requiring the affected area to be localised is immovably held in a box-like container made of plastic or acrylic gas transparent to X-rays, and with a vertically adjustable cover (4). The tissue is held still by spiker (12) integral with the container floor. Either the cover or base bears a pattern of grid lines so that the location of lesions can be rapidly related to radiographic plates, enabling the pathologist to undertake sectioning for histological investigation with min. delay. The container end walls have vertical slots (5) for passage of the screw-elements of clamps (9). Easy cleaning and disinfection permit repeated re-use of container. ADVANTAGE - Localisation of morbid changes and their sometimes difficult correlation with radiographs is facilitated.
