PURPOSE:To efficiently remove exhaust gas incorporating NOx, CO, and HC by bringing the gas into contact at 300-800 deg.C with a catalyst allowing copper to be incorporated into crystalline silicate which has a specified chemical composition in a dehydrated state. CONSTITUTION:The catalyst is prepared by incorporating copper into the crystalline silicate having the chemical composition expressed by formula I in the terms of molar ratio of oxides in a dehydrated state. In formula I, R is alkaline metal ion or/and hydrogen ion, M is one or more ions of elements selected from the group VIII elements, rare earth elements, Ti, V, Cr, Nb, and Sb, and a, b, and y satisfy a+b=1, a>=0, b>0, y>12. Exhaust gas is brought into contact with the catalyst at 300-800 deg.C to remove nitrogen oxide (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), and hydrocarbon (HC) from the gas and purify the gas. |
