PURPOSE:To improve diagnostic accuracy by arranging the light emitting means of a light irradiation part and the ultrasonic wave transducer of an ultrasonic wave transmission and reception part opposite each other across the transparent plate of a sample base, and receiving the optoacoustic signal from a sample by the ultrasonic wave transducer. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 68 and an acoustic lens 46 are arranged vertically opposite each other across the transparent plate 50a so that the optoacoustic signal emitted by organic tissue 70 as a sample by irradiation with the light from the optical fiber 68 is received by the acoustic lens 46 and sent efficiently to the piezoelectric transducer 48. When the organic tissue 70 is irradiated with intermittent light of specific frequency set by an optical chopper 20 from the optical fiber 68, the optoacoustic signal similar to the frequency of the irradiating intermittent light is generated. This optoacoustic signal is received by the piezoelectric transducer 48 through the acoustic lens 46 and received by the piezoelectric transducer 48 to display an image on a monitor 66. |
