The present invention relates to an apparatus for admixing materials, notably a particulate urea with a harvested crop, which apparatus comprises: a. a hopper 1 or other container for a particulate material adapted for transport over the ground; b. a first air stream generating means comprising an outlet from the container adapted to feed particulate material to a motoring mechanism 4 for regulating the discharge of material from the container, means for relating the operation of the metering mechanism to the forward travel of the apparatus over the ground, and air blower means 32 for transporting the particulate material from the metering mechanism to a first air stream outlet: and c. a second air stream generating means comprising means for receiving a second particulate material and for entraining the second material in an air stream generated by a positive displacement means so as to form a second air stream containing the second particulate material 40 for transporting that material to a second air stream outlet; d. the first 44 and second 42 air stream outlets being orientated with respect to one another whereby the two air streams impinge upon one another so as to cause turbulent mixing of the air streams. <IMAGE> |
