Apparatus for assembling gutters of a plastics material includes a jig 10. A length of gutter is clamped in each of the clamps 12 and 14. A heater plate is held between the ends of the gutter until the material begins to melt. The heater plate is removed and the clamp 12 is moved towards the clamp 14 using handle 22 and screw 20 until the ends of the gutters engage to form a fusion weld.
