PURPOSE:To prevent the uneven distribution of a reducing agent and to mass- produce a highly dispersed catalyst by mixing a platinum colloid protective agent with a crusher on the way of a production process, and gradually adding the reducing agent during a mixing process. CONSTITUTION:A production process consists of four steps. In the first process, a carbon catalyst carrier to which hydrophilic treatment is conducted is dispersed in water, then a platinum salt is added thereto, and they are heated. In the second process, the material from the preceding process is alkalified. In the third process, a platinum colloid protective agent is added to the material from the preceding process. In the fourth process, the material from the preceding process is crushed with a colloid mill 1 and a reducing agent 2 having an aldehyde group is gradually added thereto during the crushing-mixing process. After the completion of reducing reaction, a solution is filtered, and a material obtained is washed and dried. Uneven distribution of the reducing agent is prevented, and a catalyst having small scattering of crystal size, high dispersion, and large platinum specific surface area can be massproduced. |
