<p>PURPOSE: To provide an improved non-contact type cutting head by detecting a proximate position of a work piece to a cutting tip, attracting slugs with a magnetic means and preparing the magnetic means within the cutting head without disturbing a detecting operation. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic work piece is non-contact cut with a cutting head 12. Thereupon, a cutting tip 24 is provided in the cutting head 12. The proximity of the work piece to the cutting tip 24 is detected with a proximate position detecting means 28 (proximate sensor). Selectable operable magnetic means 29, 33 for attracting slugs generated from the work piece are provided. The magnetic means 29, 33 are positioned within the cutting head 12 without disturbing the operation of the detecting means 28. Thus, non-contact type cutting for the metallic work piece is executed by applying the improved cutting head.</p> |
