PURPOSE:To shorten the searching time of a desired channel by utilizing a program information packet and inserting a code representing a genre of a program on the air so as to attain channel search designating the channel. CONSTITUTION:The subject search equipment is provided with a channel searching means 2 designating a genre of a program and searching the channel of a broadcast signal, a decoder 3 decoding a code identifying a genre from an information packet in the searched broadcasting signal, a data collation means 4 collating the result of decoding of the decoder 3 and the designated content, and a system control means 5 controlling the channel searching means 2 in response to the output from the data collation means 4. Thus, only the channel broadcasting the program of the desired genre is searched by lots of broadcast channels and the prolonged channel searching time due to the wait of picture appearance specific to a charged broadcast channel is prevented. |
