PURPOSE:To form sufficient image density by virtue of a developer carrier and to prevent occurrence of magnetic brush marks, white spots, and toner scattering at the time of development by specifying the size distribution of the magnetic carrier. CONSTITUTION:The size distribution of the magnetic carrier is selected so that the carrier contains the fraction of 0.4 - 0.6 time the particle diameter of the weight average particle diameter in an amount of >= 2.0 wt.%, and the fraction of <= 0.4 time in an amount of <= 0.1 wt.%. The weight average particle diameter means the particle diameter value (mum) of the mesh of the sieve at the time of sieving the total carrier through this sieve and finding the weight of the carrier remaining on the sieve to be just the half of the total weight, thus permitting the requirement of the image density to be sufficiently satisfied and occurrence of brushing marks, white spots, and scattering of the toner to be prevented at the time of development. |
