PURPOSE:To enhance the charge and discharge reversibility of a silver-oxide secondary battery, and increase the overcharge resisting performance of the battery by using a positive mixture, which has a specified porosity and is prepared from argentous oxide grains, which have an adjusted grain diameter and are used as a positive active material. CONSTITUTION:A silver salt and an alkali metal hydroxide, after being dissolved into water, are made to react with one another so as to produce argentous oxide grains with a mean diameter of 0.01-0.5mum. Thus produced micro granular argentous oxide is pressed and molded with a pressure of below 2t/cm<2> so as to make a positive mixture with a porosity of below 20vol%, which is used in assembling a secondary silver-oxide battery. By the means mentioned above, the argentous oxide layer can be made thin, the charging quantity of the battery is increased, and the charge and discharge reversibility of the battery is enhanced. Besides, since hydrogen gas generated during the time of overhcarge is well consumed owing to a large surface activity of the argentous oxide layer, the amount of hydrogen gas accumulated in the battery is increased, and the overcharge resisting performance of the battery is increased. |
