The invention relates to a flexible tube, at least the inside or outside of which is coated with a layer of polyethylene which adheres directly to an elastomer layer, the layer of polyethylene which is to adhere comprising linear, highly crystalline, as yet unmelted or undissolved polyethylene, and also to a method for producing a flexible tube of this nature. Possible applications of a flexible tube of this nature are, for example, those in which the inside and/or the outside of the flexible tube are exposed to the action of chemical substances and/or of substances with a highly abrasive effect, even at low temperatures.
