PURPOSE:To obtain dense piezoelectric ceramics having small grain size by adding prescribed amts. of Mn and CuO to Pb-Zn-Nb-Ti-Zr-O ceramics having a specified compsn. CONSTITUTION:A powdery mixture prepd. by adding Mn to Pb-Zn-Nb-Ti-Zr-O ceramics represented by the formula as a basic compsn. by 0.1-5wt.% (expressed in terms of MnO2) is temporarily fired, e.g. at 850 deg.C and pulverized with a ball mill. During this pulverization, CuO powder, e.g. of >=99% purity is chemically added by 0.01-3.0%wt.% of the amt. of the basic compsn. The resulting pulverized mixture is molded, e.g. under 1,000kg/cm<2> pressure and fired at 1,100-1,250 deg.C. Piezoelectric ceramics having uniform small grain size is obtd. without causing aggregation or segregation. |
