Vectors for the transformation of plants are disclosed which contain at least one copy of a recombinant plant DNA virus, wherein said recombinant plant DNA virus contains a transposon carrying a desired DNA sequence. These vectors are suitable for the production of transgenic plants and transgenic plant tissue, in particular of monocotyledonous origin.
