Process for protecting aluminium and its alloys against galvanic corrosion in its combinations with iron and its alloys in aqueous chloride medium

This process consists in adding to the medium an organic compound belonging to the group consisting of picolic acid and isonicotinic acid. It finds its application in the protection against corrosion of devices consisting of aluminium parts and of steel parts working in contact with saline chloride solutions, such as seawater cooling circuits. As iron constitutes the major impurity in aluminium, it is possible to protect in the same way aluminium wires immersed in saline chloride solutions and thus to avoid any pitting, even with wires of very small diameter. <IMAGE>
