Diaper which is to be disposed of after use and is intended for children or incontinent adults, comprising an external sheet (1) which is impermeable to liquids, an inner sheet (2) which is permeable to liquids, and an absorbent pad (3) containing superabsorbent particles. The absorbent pad (3) comprises a first pad area (9, 10) extending substantially over the entire length of the diaper, and a second pad area (11) of a length preferably smaller than the length of the diaper, arranged on the face of the said first pad area (9, 10), directed towards the said inner sheet (2), at least in the ventral portion (5) and in at least part of the intermediate portion (6), and consisting of a web of fibres containing at least a majority of thermoplastic fibres, the said web containing superabsorbent particles mixed with the said fibres in a proportion representing between 10 and 50% of the retention capacity of the pad (3) as a whole, and the said web being hot-rolled in a design with closed meshes. <IMAGE>
