A device comprising a steaming table for domestic use. The steaming table (1) is provided with a board (2) covered with permeable layers (4, 5). A steam diffusing element (6) is located on one portion of the board (2) and is supplied by a superheated steam generator (7) attached to the underside of the board. In another embodiment, a saturating steam generator is provided separately from the table and connected to a preheater attached to the underside of said board. The device can be used for ironing or otherwise steam treating textiles.
