PURPOSE:To easily measure the influence that various kinds of chemical materials and the materials derived from living bodies exert on cell clusters by constituting the biosensor of a detector for the epithelia cells, cell substrate membrane and the metabolite of the cells. CONSTITUTION:The epithelia cells 2 are adhered and grown on the cell substrate membrane 1 contg. collagen and having material permeability to form the cell clusters. The substrate membrane 1 is brought into contact with a test liquid 5 in a vessel 6 and a medium 4 is filled on the cell 2 side. The detector 3 is disposed in the liquid. If glucose is placed on the substrate membrane 1 side, the cells decompose the glucose and discharges lactic acid as the metabolite to the substrate membrane 1 side and ammonia to the cell 2 side. A concn. difference of the glucose and the metabolite, therefore, arises between the cell 2 side and the substrate membrane 1 side if there are no spacings between the cells A and the cells do not cause metabolism abnormality. The defect between the cells and the metabolism abnormality are detected if such concn. difference is measured. The influence of a material desired to be measured of pharmacological toxicity on the cells can be measured by acting this material on the cells having the normal metabolism function. |
