<p>Described is a method for evaluating the nitrogen metabolizing growth condition of an animal. This is preferentially determined by evaluating glutamate levels in a test sample from the animal. The method has a preferred application in determining when to use a hormonal agent of nitrogen balance (HANB) and the optimum dosage of a HANB. Methods of promoting growth by administering glutamate alone or in combination with a HANB are disclosed.</p> |
