A heat exchanger is formed of an elastomeric mat. with integral insulation and can be used in solar panels. The flexible mat. has a number of parallel, independent tubes (2) attached directly to the mat. base (1) and is extruded in one piece in EPDM or similar rubber. Insulation is provided by air gaps (3) between the tubes (2) and the mat. base (1). Tubes (2) can be easily stripped away from the mat (1) to provide heating in required areas. USE/ADVANTAGE - The heat exchanger can be used in solar panelsor underfloor heating, reduces heat loss to the underside and enables specified areas to be heated without dividing the mat. or destroying the insulation.
