PURPOSE:To obtain the title fibrous material excellent in resistance to laundering and dry cleaning by treating an aromatic polyamide fiber with a tetrakis(hydroxyalkyl)phosphonium compound. CONSTITUTION:A fibrous material as a knitted fabric consisting of aromatic polyamide fiber is imparted, e.g. through pad mangling process, with a treating agent prepared by formulating a tetrakis(hydroxyalkyl) phosphonium compound as flame retardant with an anchorage (e.g. urea, thiourea, methylolmelamine), and heat-treated, thus obtaining the objective flameproof aromatic polyamide fibrous material good in feel and excellent in resistance to laundering and dry cleaning. |
