Attachment of handrail or facade to wall - involves use of rail with elongated hole with serrated edges

The handrail (2) or facade panel is fastened to a wall (3) by a rail (4) of inverted top-hat section. The web (9) of this section has an elongated hole with serrations formed along the edges. The rail (4) is fastened to a hollow rectangular section (6) which is embedded in the wall (3). This hollow section (6) has a longitudinal slot in its upper wall which receives the shank of a bolt (7) with the head of the bolt being inside the hollow section. A special serrated washer (12) with serrated edges is fitted over the shank of the bolt and the serrations engage the serrations of the elongated hole in the top-hat section (4). The two rails (4, 6) are clamped together by a nut (17) so that the serrated washer (12) locks the first rail (4) to the second rail (6).
