Monitoring distn. in closed system - by relative wt. changes measured for two system sections

Standard elements forming a distn. system, i.e. the evapn. flask, cooler and distillate collector form a closed system out of contact with the external atmos., and are grouped in two sections with the course of distn. established by changes in the relative wts. of the two sections as measured by units. The wt. system may be suspended to pivot about a pt. between the flask and collector assemblies, with pivot point and combined centre of gravity coinciding or vertically superimposed. Weighing element(s) for the two sections has a piezoelectric element, strain gauge or electrical induction element. Signals from the weighing elements are evaluated and produce a distn. curve. The balance beam may be a support plate for the elements, whose relative position can be varied. ADVANTAGE - Distn. parameters may be continuously varied and obtd. results checked.
