A slot antenna for motor vehicles comprises a slot (3a) in a a large relatively flat piece of bodywork, e.g. roof, h.f. leads (4) to an adaptor (5) and an antenna cable (6). The slot (3a) for the antenna may be directly integrated into the bodywork utilising existing joins/seams in either doors, bonnet, roof, or boot. Additionally, the slot may be sealed with plastics material and sloped C, U, O, T, +, or -, and be one half wavelength long. ADVANTAGE - Less obtrusive.
