The invention relates to an electrolytic cell for catalytic oxidn. and/or redn. in an aq., solvent soln., suspension, dispersion of organic substances and/or heavy metal cpds. by catalytic reaction at a rare metal or non-rare metal catalyser and/or a mxit. of emtal oxides on a ceramic carrier. The cell consists of a housing with an itnernally divided space which comprises an anode and cathode in cassette form, two or more insulating spacers in cassette form, one or more honeycombed ceramic carriers or non-rare metal or rare metal layers with a catalytic effect which are arranged such that the current from the anode to the cathode flows longitudinally via the catalyser. Space is available for measuring probes and filters and/or absorption stages in cassette form. The cover has at least two contacts for connecting current source to the probes and electrodes.
