<p>A coffin (10) is disclosed which comprises a three part base (12) which lies below a full length base insert (74). The three parts (24,26,28) of the base (12) lie end-to-end below the insert (74) and include vertical panels (30,30.1) which constitute the foot and head end walls (20,22) of the coffin (10). The sides (16) of the coffin (10) comprise vertical outer wall panels (48,50,48.1,50.1) and vertical inner inserts (76). The outer wall panels (48,50,48.1,50.1) are integral with flaps (54,56,54.1,56.1) which lie below the coffin base (12). The lid (14) is in two parts (80,88) which are joined by a transverse strip (100).</p> |
