<p>The known coating apparatus of the type including a device for blowing off and applying coat liquid onto a web which is being transported as wrapped around a backing roller and a blade for averaging the applied coat liquid into a constant thickness, is improved. A partition plate for dividing in the web traveling direction the inside of a chamber for storing and blowing off coat liquid, is provided. A plate-like body resiliently held in contact with the web is mounted to an upper portion of the partition plate, and a plurality of holes are formed in a lower portion of the same partition plate. <IMAGE></p>
