An electronic cash register has a coupon key and a coupon message file in a memory. The method for floating the coupon ticket comprises the following steps of: deciding the register mode or not; inspecting the coupon key input and deciding the coupon floating enable state; floating the coupon ticket by reading the coupon message file in case of the coupon floating enable state; executing the register affairs on other cases.
