DISPLAY EXTENTION CIRCUIT

The circuit extends the display number of characters on the screen by selecting the character generator divided by the range of the character size. When the user selects the display number, a CPU (10) latches the extended data for display number to the latch (50). The latch inputs the latched data to extended character generators (601-604) loading the selected data to a parallel/serial converter (90) after receiving the scan data from an image RAM (30) and the raster address from a latch (40). The converter converts the input data to the serial dot unit and provides the converted data to a monitor (100) displaying up to 160 column characters.
