<p>NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [X is -O-mycinose or di(lower alkyl) amino; R<1> is H or lower alkanoyl; R<2> is lower alkyl, cycloalkyl-lower alkyl, etc.; R<3> is H or OH] or a salt thereof. EXAMPLE:9-Dihydro-9-O-methyldesmycosin. USE:An infectious disease remedy. The compound exhibits an excellent infectious disease-treating effect when orally administered. PREPARATION:The aldehyde group of a desmycosin derivative of formula II is first protected and the protected product is reduced with an alkali borohydride such as sodium borohydride in a solvent such as methanol. The prepared compound of formula III (R groups are lower alkyl, respectively, or two of the R groups form a lower alkylene) is reacted with an alcohol of a formula: R<2>-OH in the presence of an acidic catalyst, followed by removing the aldehyde-protecting group of the reaction product.</p> |
