The hydraulic shock-absorber/damper has a piston with rod dividing a fluid-filled cylinder into two working chambers. A compensation chamber enclosing the cylinder is connected to the working chamber without the piston rod and enclosed by a resilient sleeve. The latter is in turn enclosed by a casing, and supported from it via a buffer chamber. The latter contains an elastic body (38), enclosing the sleeve. Groove-type recesses are formed in the body on the inside and/or outside, extending along peripheral lines. These can be of V- or rectangular cross-section. USE/ADVANTAGE - Hydraulic shock absorber in vehicle allows imposition of desired characteristic curve.
