The propeller blade can be twisted about an axis at right angles to the axis of propeller rotation. The propeller blade is constructed from segments enclosed in an envelope of thin elastic material. Each segment (4-6) consists of two parts, a front part and a rear part (8,10,12). Each front part (7,9) is mounted on a bush (13) which is free to rotate on a shaft (1) which extends from the propeller blade root to the blade tip. The outermost front part (11) is secured to the shaft by a pin (21) to prevent relative rotation. Each rear part is attached to its corresp. front part by a bolt (16,17,18) which permits the rear part to rotate relative to the front part. The bolts are connected by a flat strip (20) which is rigid in the plane of the drawing but flexible in the plane at right angles to the drawing plane. USE - Propellers for aircraft and wind machines.
