摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance the reflectivity and C/N value of the medium and to improve its durability by providing the recording layer and reflecting layer contg. pigment on a substrate and imparting specified orientation factor and film thickness to the reflecting layer. CONSTITUTION:The reflecting layer consisting of a recording layer contg. the pigment capable of recording and reproducing information with a laser beam and a metal is provided on a discoid substrate. The reflecting layer has the orientation factor of >=17 defined by equation 1, and the thickness is controlled to 300-3,000 Angstrom . In the equation, F is the orientation factor, I is the X-ray diffraction line intensity ratio of the nonoriented surface to the oriented surface, IASTM is the X-ray diffraction line intensity ratio of the nonoriented surface to oriented surface according to the ASTM card, and phi is an acute angle between the oriented and nonoriented surfaces. Consequently, the medium has high reflectivity and C/N value and is highly durable, and the recording layer is not damaged even when a protective layer is provided by coating.
