The servo-drive (1) has a servo-motor (2), and a multi-stage reduction gear driving an adjustment shaft. An angle measures (5) measurer measures the shafts anle of rotation. A brake (6) brakes the motor when the latter stops. The measurer and the brake are located on the adjustment shaft or an a drive shaft (7) coupled coaxially to it. The drive shaft may be a hollow measuring shaft that can be coupled non-rotationally to the adjustment shaft at least over a part of its length and that slides over the adjustment shaft. The brake is located at the end (7a) of the hollow shaft facing away from the adjustment shaft. The measurer lies between the reduction gear (4) and the brake. USE/ADVANTAGE - For machine tools etc.. Any play in reduction gearing has no adverse effect on adjustment motion.
