The hydraulically actuated disc brake is provided with automatic adjustment to take up the wear of the brake lining. The brake pad (96) is actuated by a piston (8) which operates in a housing (2). The end face (20) of the piston has a cylindrical projection (22) with a smaller diameter end face (24) which abuts against the end of a non-self locking screw (14). This screw engages a nut (16) which fits inside the bore of the piston and has a conical friction surface (88) which abuts against the conical friction surface (87) in the bore of the piston. The end of the nut (16) has a bore fitted with a sealing ring (62) which fits over the cylindrical projection (22) of the piston. USE - Self-adjusting brakes.
