The stereo-microscope, for use in gynaecological examination, is provided with adjustment for the sharpness of the image. The instrument (1) is supported on two parallel links (9, 10) which are pivoted to a lever (5) which is pivoted to a base (4). The two links, the lever and the instrument itself, together form a parallelogram linkage. The angular position of the link (8) relative to the lever can be adjusted by means of a strut (7) and an adjusting nut (6) and thus the horizontal position of the instrument can be adjusted.
