The level sounding system contains a probe which is lowered on a cable into a container whose content level is being determined. The length of cable lowered is measured on a roller between the cable feed arrangement and the surface of the material in the container. The cable turns the measurement roller as it is lowered. The roller contains or is connected to an arrangement which measures and/or displays its rotations. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple, reliable and accurate level measure-ment of gaseous, liquid and/or solid material forming phase boundary in material container.
