A lift is equipped with a terminal device (1) which controls the lift in the building, thereby protecting the privacy of passengers under normal conditions. The equipment includes a means for notifying, over a public line, a supervisory centre (7), which controls a plurality of buildings from a remote place, of an abnormality of the lift, and a means for transmitting a phone call over the public line from the supervisory centre to an interphone (13) in the lift car (12). The equipment further includes a means for detecting a call switch operation of the interphone by a passenger, and a means for connecting, when the call switch operation is performed, the interphone to the public line, thereby enabling the supervisory centre and the passenger to speak by telephone. <IMAGE> |
