PURPOSE:To obtain the title additive for ruminant capable of controlling elution of physiologically active substance in stomachs by coating a nucleus substance containing a physiologically active substance with a covering agent containing a specific synthetic polymer substance. CONSTITUTION:In coating a nucleus substance containing a physiologically active substance with a covering agent containing a synthetic polymer substance to dissolve or swell in water in an acidic range at pH <=5.5, the polymer substance contains structural units shown by formula I and formula II (R<1> and R<2> are alkyl or R<1> and R<2> are bonded to give alkylene in which at least one C may be replaced with O atom; R<3> is H, alkyl or alkoxy) in a ratio of 5-50mol% unit shown by formula I and 20-80wt.% unit shown by formula 11 and has 0.01-6.0dl/g reduced viscosity.
