PURPOSE:To prevent the erroneous detection of toner empty occurring without remarkably delaying the start of a toner empty detecting operation by providing a control means to shift a toner empty level to a value higher than that in an ordinary operation only for a constant period after a power source is applied. CONSTITUTION:The control means 40 is provided which shifts the toner empty level to the value higher than that in the ordinary operation only for the constant period after the application of the power source. Therefore, since the toner empty level is raised for a prescribed period at a state where the toner empty detecting operation can be performed, it can be prevented judged that it is toner empty even when the output of a toner sensor 37 is increased by the increment of the level for that period. In such a way, it is possible to prevent the erroneous detection of the toner empty occurring. |
