<p>In a data processing system (FIG 2) in which data is entered into one or more fields of a form (FIG 3) and validated, a method for performing default, edit, calculation, and list procedures (FIG. 5), and combinations thereof, according to which default, edit, calculation, and list procedures are associated with input attributes via a table (page 32). The procedures may be executed in a predetermined, yet modifiable order. Entry of certain data types may result in changes to multiple fields in a form. Upon entry of such data, a cross-field edit (104, FIG 5) is performed to check for consistency between such data and other data in the database associated with the form.</p> |
