PURPOSE:To obtain a battery which can be used repeatedly and continuously even after explosion preventing function is operated, by installing an elastic valve member to close a valve hole and pushing up the elastic valve member to discharge gas outside through the valve hole and gas vents when the inner pressure of the battery becomes higher than a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:A battery is sealed by bonding a valve body 4 made of a metal plate from the inside face of a sealing plate lower case 3 by means of a resin adhesive 6 which is resistant against organic electrolyte and adhesive to metals. After that, a cap 5 which has a gas vent 5a in a projected part 5b and a cylindrical elastic body 7 made of styrene-butadiene rubber in the projected part 5b is put on and the opening edge part 3b of the sealing plate lower case 3 is bent and curved inward to seal and fix the battery. When the inner pressure of the battery rises and becomes equal to or more than a prescribed value, the metal valve body 4 is pushed up and the valve hole is opened and thus gas inside the battery can escape to outside. In this way, secular deterioration is lowered and the battery does not lose its function even after explosion preventing function is operated and the battery can be used continuously and repeatedly. |
