The present invention, called safety device intended for controlling the position of materials, of sheet-holder type, relates to the fitting of sensitive and adjustable sensors indicating the position of the materials to be cut, to be printed or used in silk-screen printing associated with an anti-repetition electronic circuit, slaving of jack elements and control electronics. According to Figure 2, the invention is characterised by the fitting on the plate (22) of the machine (press) of adjustable and sensitive sensors (44) detecting the position of the materials on the surface of the plate. These sensors act on electrical relays (26) for control of the machine (press) by means of electronics (50) with software analysing the signals. These electronics (50) control the various ergonomic operation types of the machine (press) and ensure user safety. The invention is used in the cardboard, packaging and silk-screen printing industry. <IMAGE>
