DEVICE AND METHOD FOR COOPERATIVE TRACKING

PURPOSE: To obtain a cooperative tracking apparatus for performing the effect of mere combination of both a correlation tracking unit and object tracking unit by using the both to supplement the defects of the both. CONSTITUTION: An accurately specified target tracking point is generated by generating the silhouette of the target in a target estimation gate 416. The silhouette is generated by calculating the threshold value of data in the estimated tracking gate 416 of a field surface Fi+1 . The threshold value is added to the data in the gate 416 to generate the binary number silhouette of the target 402. When the target silhouette is generated in the gate 416, the target tracking point accurately specified for the target 402 is generated by an object tracking apparatus. Since this cooperative tracking apparatus alleviates the requirements of the collimated tracking speed of the object tracking unit by the correlation tracking unit, it is excellent as compared with the target tracking unit solely using the object tracking unit.
