PURPOSE:To give a flat catalyst for denitrification of exhaust gas, improved in physical strength and heat resistance and incombustibility of the flat catalyst by carrying catalytic components of mainly titanium oxide on a substrate comprised mainly of plates of mica. CONSTITUTION:Catalyst components consisting mainly of titanium oxide together with at least one element selected from a group comprising copper, cerium, vanadium chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, manganese, iron, cobalt, and/or nickel are carried on a substrate comprised of plates of mainly mica to give a flat catalyst. The catalyst is used in the presence of ammonia and/or a compound which produces ammonia by decomposition on a catalyst to carry out denitrification of exhaust gases. A plate prepared by bonding scales of mica with an inorganic adhesive or a plate consisting mainly of a plate of mica and a cloth made of an inorganic fiber joined on to the plate is preferably used as the substrate. |
