PURPOSE:To surely execute focusing to a photographer even when he is not in front of the camera by constituting the camera for detecting a distance to an oscillator and driving an automatic focal mechanism, based on this data, so that the distance measurement to the photographer himself having a transmitter can be executed by only turning the oscillator to the camera and operating it. CONSTITUTION:When a power source of a camera 10 is turned on and it is turned to an object to be photographed and placed in a suitable position, an oscillator 22 is removed from a main body 11, and the mode is switched to a remote control priority mode. A photographer who becomes the object to be photographed goes in front of the camera by holding the oscillator 22, turns the oscillator 22 to the camera 10, and turns on a distance measurement start switch 27. When a microcomputer 18 detects it, an optical distance measurement signal is emitted from an LED element 25, and simultaneously, from an infrared emission LED element 23, infrared rays are also emitted.
