PURPOSE:To heighten water permeating and desalting ability under a low pressure by providing on a micro-porous supporting body a superthin polyamide membrane consisting of a specific multifunctional amine component and multifunctional carboxylic acid component to form a composite semipermeable membrane. CONSTITUTION:A micro-porous supporting membrane is coated with an aq. solution contg. alkyliminobisalkylamine represented by the formula I as a multifunctional amine and/or iminobisalkylamine represented by the formula II (wherein R<1> and R<2> are 1-4C alkylene and R<3> is 1-4C alkyl). It is then coated with a water-immiscible org. solvent contg. mulfunctional halide represented by the formula III (wherein R<4> is hydrogen and 1-4C alkyl, X is chlorine, bromine, iodine and fluorine and ring A is benzene ring or cyclohexane ring) to cause polycondensation to take place at the interface with the aq. solution, thereby forming a superthin membrane consisting of polyamide. |
