PURPOSE:To efficiently generate the high-purity fine soot excellent in uniformity by supplying a controlled amt. of a gaseous oxygen current to surround a combustible raw gas current contg. gaseous unsaturated hydrocarbons and incompletely burning the raw gas. CONSTITUTION:An inner tube 5 and an outer tube 6 enclosing the inner tube 5 are connected by plural plate-shaped ribs 7 to form a soot generating element 3 of a double pipe structure. Many elements 3 are arranged on a hollow discoid substrate 2, a combustible raw gas inlet pipe 5b is connected to the inner tube 5 of the element 3, and a gaseous oxygen inlet pipe 6b is connected to the outer tube 6. The combustible raw gas current contg. gaseous unsaturated hydrocarbons (e.g. acetylene) is supplied to the inner tube 5 of the element 3. A gaseous oxygen current in the amt. of 0.05-0.4 times the stoichiometric amt. of oxygen necessary for the complete combustion of the raw gas current is supplied to surround the raw gas current to cause incomplete combustion, and soot is generated. |
